Professor Dominic Rowe AM, BSc (Med), MBBS (Hons), PhD is Foundation Professor of Neurology at Macquarie University, Head of Neurology, and Consultant Neurologist at Macquarie University Hospital. MQ Health Neurology is an adult neurology practice that has six neurologists and performs over 8,000 patient episodes per year. MQ Health Neurology manages the integrated care of >175 patients with MND (~10% of all patients in Australia) and  >750 patients with Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders.

He established the MND Research Centre at Macquarie University in 2013, which is now the largest integrated basic and clinical research unit in Australia (www.mq.edu.au/mnd), together with the Neurodegenerative Disease Biobank at Macquarie University.

Professor Rowe (orcid: 0000-0003-0912-2146) has published 106 manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals, in addition to chapters in textbooks on Motor Neurone Disease, and edited a textbook on the Non Motor Manifestations of Parkinson’s Disease (Oxford University Press). His original manuscripts have attracted over 6300 total citations with >3300 citations over the last five years. His publications in the area of ALS appeared in Nature Genetics (2016, doi: 10.1038/ng.3622., 334 citations, Altmetric score 346 (top 1% of all papers of similar age), Nature Communications (2017, doi: 10.1038/ncomms14774), 87 citations, Altmetric score 243 (top 2%) and  Science Translational Medicine (2018, doi: 10.1126/scitranslmed.aah4066), 197 citations, Altmetric score 537 (top 1%).  Professor Rowe holds two patents in the area of Parkinson’s disease; one that utilizes a blood test in the diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease, and the other that predicts its progression via cytokine genotyping. In addition a patent concerning a blood test in Motor Neuron Disease and other Neurodegenerative diseases was awarded in 2018
