The biggest fear for the elderly is the threat to independence, the idea of sudden disability and becoming a burden to loved ones. Stroke can rob our patients of their independence in an instant. Our fight in stroke is preventing disability and this war is best fought on the fronts of reperfusion therapy and secondary prevention.
