Balance disorders represent a critical challenge for the ageing population. This lecture will provide a comprehensive overview of the multifactorial nature of equilibrium impairment in seniors, exploring the physiological changes of the ageing vestibular system, including the prevalence of Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) and age-related vestibulopathy. Clinical evaluation strategies will be detailed, focusing on distinguishing between peripheral and central aetiologies with a review of multidisciplinary intervention strategies.
