Topic: De-Prescribing Tips For Older Patients

Optimised prescribing for older people requires consideration of multiple comorbidities, multiple medications, impairments of physical and cognitive function and treatment goals. Geriatric syndromes may accumulate over time and medications require ongoing reassessment. Deprescribing is the process of withdrawal of an inappropriate medication, supervised by a health care professional with the goal of managing polypharmacy and improving outcomes. This talk will cover assessment of inappropriate medications for older patients and the process of de-prescribing.
